k-pop, are u up for it?

i loooovee music. i think everybody near me knows that i love music so much that i would buy original cd's (nowadays, everybody download it for free on the net), making myself free when there's a concert plus doesn't mind spending 1/4 of my salary just to get the best seat in the house, having karaoke outing as my #1 hobby and endless shouting and shrieking sing along sessions in the car. huge fan of western and indonesian artist but never a big fan of the rest.

i've watched korean movies and series and it automatically makes me stuck with the soundtrack songs. but it all end just there. so a few months ago my best mates introduce me to this superstar group in korea called super junior. it was OK at first and suddenly i heard that they were on their tour and guess what? kuala lumpur is one of their stops. so my friend ask me to come along and i actually agree to it and say yes without knowing the consequences. ceehhh, i suddenly sound like i'm leading u guys to a horror/thriller story. haha. back to the story! so super junior consist of 13 members and i'm a week away from their concerts and still have no idea about them. i don't know their songs and not even their names. so i made a deal to myself that it will be a great achievement if i could memorize all the names of the members by the day of the concert.

so i start searching vids of them on utube and start listening to their songs a bit and i actually succeeded. the concert day arrives and of course i don't expect much but they prove me wrong. they were really really good. the showmanship was great. even kanye west was not as good as them.ha! so that was the beginning and the rest is history. i've been watching their music videos, interviews and shows everyday without fail. not just super juniors, i've start listening to other korean groups and singers.

should i sadly or gladly say that i'm slowly leaning to the k-pop phase? well i guess music is universal. there is no boundaries of good music aren't they? so to whomever that is reading this entry with a smirk on their faces should try and give k-pop a chance. haha. go utube and check out their videos. once you're into it, you'll be addicted like crazy. good luck! daebak! xoxo

* K-POP is an abbreviation for Korean popular music, specifically South Korean (there's no popular music industry in North Korea). Many of the Korean pop stars and pop groups are well known in East Asia and other parts of Asia . K-pop often emulates American pop music, and usually features young, sexy performers.

* daebak means success in korean :)
